AB de Villiers shines as Royal Challengers Bangalore's hero in a rain-affected IPL 2015 match against Rajasthan Royals. The South African batsman smashed 47 runs off the first five overs, helping RCB amass a 200-run total against the Royals in the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. The match was called off due to heavy rain, leaving both teams with a point each. RCB leapfrogs Kolkata Knight Riders to the third position in the table, while Rajasthan Royals equal the table-toppers Chennai Super Kings with 12 points. Chris Gayle opened the batting for RCB, but it was de Villiers who stole the show. He hit two fours in his first two overs, followed by James Faulkner, who also contributed two fours. De Villiers and Faulkner combined to bring up their fifty-run stand off just 34 balls. Mandeep Singh also played a crucial role, scoring 27 runs off the next two overs. De Villiers smashed Binny for a six and two fours off four balls, but was run out for a 45-ball 57 when involved in a mix-up with Karthik. Sarfaraz Khan, the 17-year-old, finished with a brilliant 45 off 21 deliveries, helping RCB end with a big total. The rain gods had other plans, however, and the match was called off before the chase could begin.
